Supershoot

Troubleshooting

Fixes for the Supershoot app and pointers for the One-Day Shoot Script Kit.

The app

The app is still in testing and isn't on the App Store yet, so this list covers what I know today.

Record says Supershoot needs my camera or microphone

Camera and microphone are requested together when the Record screen opens. If either is off, Record shows "Supershoot needs your camera", "Supershoot needs your microphone" or "Supershoot needs your camera and microphone", with Open Settings and Exit to Review.

Tap Open Settings, switch on what it names, and come back. Record re-checks on its own when you return. Your scripts and takes stay put the whole time.

Saving a reel says Photos access was not granted

The message reads "Photos access was not granted. Allow adding photos in Settings > Supershoot." Supershoot asks for add-only access the first time you save a reel or turn on Save every take to Photos. Allow adding photos in iOS Settings, then save the reel again.

Nothing else depends on Photos. Export takes and the editor files work without it.

Takes are not saving to Photos

With Save every take on, a message tells you takes are not being saved to Photos, and Record settings shows the same warning. The cause is the same denied add-only access. Allow adding photos under Supershoot in iOS Settings to turn saving back on. Everything else keeps working while it is off.

My reels are not in an album

Reels go into an album named after the shoot only if you gave Supershoot full Photos access earlier in iOS Settings. The app never asks for full access itself. Without it, reels save loose to your library.

Captions are empty, or the trim only follows audio level

Word timing runs on your iPhone with an English (US) speech model that iOS downloads once. Be online the first time you assemble or auto trim. If the download hasn't finished or fails, trimming falls back to audio level only and there are no words for captions to show. Captions fill in on a later assemble once the model is there.

Word timing is English (US) only today.

I don't see the hook suggestions button

Hook suggestions need Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. When it's off or your iPhone doesn't support it, the button is hidden. Nothing else in the app needs it.

My clicker does nothing

Clicker keys only work on the Record screen. Anywhere else, and whenever a text field has focus, the keys behave normally. Check your clicker sends one of these:

  • Forward: Page Down, Right Arrow, Down Arrow, Space or Return.
  • Back: Page Up, Left Arrow or Up Arrow.

Volume down, the Action button and Camera Control also act as forward while Record is open, and volume up acts as back. I haven't confirmed on a device whether those keep firing in the middle of a recording.

There's a steady high whine in my recordings

This is a known issue. A steady whine near 5 kHz showed up in the raw microphone audio on one iPhone 17 Pro, in every take, so it comes from the device side. Two things are built in to help:

  • Leave Remove steady tones on (Record settings, Takes). It's on by default, and it notches a constant whistle out of the reel's audio. Your recorded takes aren't changed.
  • Turn Countdown beeps off. That records with a capture-only audio session.

I haven't verified on a device yet how much either one reduces the whine. Record settings, Microphone lists the measured tone for your last kept takes.

A finished reel disappeared

Finished reels render to a temporary file, and iOS may clear temporary files. Save each reel to Photos or share it as soon as it's done. Your kept takes live in the app's own storage and aren't affected.

Does Supershoot run on an iPad or a Mac?

Supershoot is iPhone only, on iOS 26.0 or later, in portrait with a dark appearance. There's no iPad or Mac version.

My paste won't import, or it imported wrong

Start with the import messages and what to do about each one. If the paste imported but looks off, run your scripts through the formatting prompt and paste the result.

My phone is running low on space

Open Settings, then Storage. It shows the space used by each shoot, and Delete replaced takes removes the earlier tries that a retake pushed aside. Kept takes stay. You can also delete a whole shoot from Home, which deletes its folder and takes. Save or export anything you want first. The storage article has the details.

The kit

The kit answers live on the main help page, so there's one copy to keep right. Pick the one that fits and it opens there.
